.: initial remote backup recommendation |
|
|
It is recommended to use the "Copy-To-Disk" backup option for the first backup. Since the first backup, in most cases, is huge, it is not feasible to push that amount of data online. NOTE: This no longer applies to the "'Personal Edition" (ISDRB-pers-setup.exe) as of version 11.x.xFor this procedure, we suggest using an external USB device attached to your server or system being backed up. Once you have the drive plugged in, open the client software. Create your backup set and select files for backup. Now go to Run > Copy to Disk. The software will ask you to confirm the location for this backup - select your external drive. The backup will run just as it would over the internet except it's going to the local disk; therefore times will be much shorter. Once the backup is complete, simple deliver or mail the external drive to ISecureDat where the files will be transferred into your account root directory. From this point forward, incremental changes and new files will automatically augment your backup set. Upon completion of the transfer, all external drives, CD and/or DVD materials will be returned to you if accompanied with adequate postage. |
