There are two options available to manage the size of changed files which are
transferred to the server.
The settings are mutually exclusive.
Roll-Forward Threshold
Permits you to specify the number of backups which can be performed before the software
is forced to transfer a completely new copy of a data file to the offsite server, (the
number of BitBackups that will be done before the remote backup software resends the full
file again.)
Threshold Size
Permits you to send change data to the offsite server as long as the size of the change
file does not exceed 25, 50, 75 or 100% of the reference file already stored on that
server. If the change file does exceed the selected percentage, then a roll-forward
operation will be performed.
ISecureDat has set the BitBackup default Threshold Size at 50% for sending changed files to
the server. You may change this default setting through the "Specifications" form
at the time of application or later through the "Client Management Panel" - this
will be displayed on your tool-bar after the software in installed.
Using the Threshold Size feature instead of the Roll-Forward Threshold setting takes more
time during preparation of a backup, because the software needs make a BitBackup archive to
compare its size to the full file.
